Harvard Society Of Women In Engineering

Harvard SWE in Minneapolis

Since 2017 I have been involved in Harvard’s Society of Women in Engineering chapter, serving as internal outreach chair and later as conference chair. As internal outreach chair, I helped the society connect with other organisations on campus to organise events. For example, with the engineering society we organised a ‘bridge building’ competition for the incoming freshmen engineers to allow them to get to know Harvard SEAS and its students better.

As conference chair, I secured $5,000 in funding to send 12 people to the 2018 SWE national conference in Minneapolis. At the conference, we enjoyed listening to engineers at the top of their field speak about various technical and personal topics, along with meeting recruiters from various companies.

The experience has been very important in both improving my communication skills and more importantly, connecting with an under-represented population in engineering.
