Undergraduate CApstone Thesis – Laboratory for Nanoscale Optics

In my senior year of my undergraduate career, I undertook a research and design project for my capstone engineering project titled “Electro-Acoustic Modulation of Surface Acoustic Waves on Thin-Film Lithium Niobate Substrate”. I learned about a whole new field of study, conducted modelling in COMSOL, fabricated a device using photolithographic methods, and validated the design computationally.

Analytical Space – Hardware Engineering Intern

In the summer of 2019 and over my undergraduate senior year, I worked with the engineering team at Analytical Space, listed by Forbes as one of the most innovative startups in 2019. I developed software and hardware to emulate power consumption and data interface characteristics of on-orbit hardware. I developed data interface hardware and protocols for benchtop testing as part of a MITRE contract.

Formlabs - Electrical Engineering Intern

In the summer of 2018, I worked with the EE team. I Designed and prototyped electrical subsystems for the new industrial-grade Fuse 1 3D printer, wrote test protocols to evaluate novel printer system, which provided data that changed the final design, and designed and validated a system to characterise laser diodes in a standard manner across assembly facilities, saving six engineer days per month and $1000 in test equipment.

Burohappold Engineering Consultants

In the summer of 2017, I worked at the Burohappold Los Angeles office. I was tasked with evaluated the company’s internal design and information exchange workflows in the context of new Building Information Management frameworks. I presented the final 70-page report to management on Skype meetings and at the annual company conference.
